Auto-parts coating firm fined for safety issues

A Toledo firm that applies coatings to parts for use by the auto industry has been fined $52,250 by federal regulators following a five-month inspection that found safety violations at its plant in Rossford.

During inspections from December through April, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it found 16 serious violations and seven other violations at the Electro Prime Group plant at 63 Dixie Hwy. in Rossford.

John Lauffer, a co-owner of Electro Prime, said the company has acknowledged the violations and corrected nearly “90 percent of them” so far, and is trying to negotiate a reduction in the fine.
