Trustees issue promises on use of library levy

6/10/2010

BOWLING GREEN — In a letter to county commissioners, trustees for the Wood County District Public Library yesterday promised money generated by a proposed operating levy “will be used primarily to restore service hours and purchase library materials for library customers.”

The library will “follow the lead” of county commissioners regarding pay raises for its employees and “has no plans” to resume paying employees' pension contributions or reduce workers' insurance co-payments, the letter said.

Commissioners had raised concerns when the library announced plans to place a five-year, 0.8-mill operating levy on the November ballot. The levy would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $24.50 a year.
