FITCHVILLE, Ohio — A Cincinnati man was in serious condition last night after a crash on U.S. 250 near Fitchville early Sunday afternoon.

John Platter, 60, was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center after emergency officials used mechanical equipment to get him out the pickup he drove, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol's Norwalk Post.

Mr. Platter's southbound pickup went off the left side of the road and struck a tree about 1:35 p.m. north of Fitchville in southeastern Huron County's Fitchville Township.

His passenger, Jason Webber, 32, of southwest Ohio's Maineville suffered minor injuries and was taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, Ohio, according to the patrol.

Both men wore seat belts.

At least one lane of U.S. 250 was closed for about 30 minutes.
