COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Gov. Ted Strickland says $673,873 in state aid to headed to three northwest Ohio counties hit hard by a tornado.

The state Controlling Board approved the disaster relief Monday for Wood, Fulton, and Ottawa counties.

A line of severe storms ripped through the area June 5-6. The worst damage was southeast of Toledo where five people were killed and about 100 homes were destroyed or severely damaged by a tornado that cut an 8-mile path through small towns and farm fields.

A man injured in the storm died at a hospital Sunday, raising the death toll to six.

Mr. Strickland has sent a letter to President Obama requesting a federal disaster declaration to allow the area to receive additional federal assistance and resources.
