Toledo police Tuesday morning arrested a man and accused him of shooting a woman in South Toledo earlier in the morning, authorities said.

Cheryl Bugbee, 21, the victim whose address was not released, was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, police said. A hospital spokesman said she had no condition about a person by that name.

Darris Adams, 23, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and felonious assault, officers said. He was being interviewed by police in the morning. As of 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, he wasn't yet booked into the Lucas County jail, according to jail records.

At 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, police responding to a report of a person shot arrived at a single-family house at 519 Carver Blvd. and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

The incident remained under investigation early Tuesday afternoon, at which time police released no further details.
