ROCKY RIDGE, Ohio — A man was killed when his car collided with a tractor-trailer at the intersection of State Rt. 590 and State Rt. 163 in Ottawa County's Benton Township, Ohio Highway Patrol said.

William Frederick, age 49, of Graytown, Ohio was dead on the scene, troopers said. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Mr. Frederick was driving northbound on Route 590 about 4:20 p.m. Thursday when he failed to stop at the marked intersection of Route 163 and struck a westbound tractor-trailer. His car became wedged under the trailer and was dragged 700 feet.

He was trapped in the vehicle for about two hours, and Route 163 southwest of Rocky Ridge was shut down for four hours afterward, troopers said.
