Columbus Grove man denied parole in deaths

6/24/2010

The Ohio Parole Board Wednesday refused to release from prison a Columbus Grove man who killed a father and a son from Delphos in 1974.

Robin C. Bender, 56, will not have another hearing before the parole board until July, 2016, according to a spokesman for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.

Bender is serving two life sentences for the murders of Kenneth Youngpeter, 27, and his father, Louis, 51. They were shot after interrupting a burglary at Kenneth Youngpeter's rural Delphos home. Kenneth's wife, Judy, was shot and wounded.

Family, friends, and other supporters petitioned the board to keep Bender behind bars.
