Several local business professionals will travel to the Middle East next month to work with young entrepreneurs in family businesses as part of an exchange program.

The professionals will be in the Middle East for nearly three weeks to mentor and consult with 15 Middle Eastern entrepreneurs who visited northwest Ohio and surrounding states this spring. They will assist in workshops and visit businesses.

Local exchange participants are Kent Buehrer and Husam Muhsen of Buehrer Group, Maumee; Colleen LaChappelle of J.C. Chapp LLC, Maumee; Carrie Arnold of Kellermeyer Co., Bowling Green; Mouine Elkhatib of International Tableware Inc., Toledo; and Teresa Smith of JITA International, Toledo.

The exchange program is funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It was organized by the Great Lakes Consortium, the Center for Family Business at the University of Toledo, and other partners in northwest Ohio and the Middle East.
