FOSTORIA — The jobs of three police officers slated for layoff will be spared after the union representing police agreed to a $1-an-hour pay cut.
Dennis Fligor, Fostoria's safety-service director, said last week that he had sent layoff notices to six police officers and four firefighters, although one of the police officers would be recalled immediately and paid with a federal COPS grant.
Late Friday, city officials reached an agreement with the police union that will save three additional jobs. Mayor John Davoli said city officials still are negotiating with other unions.
