Workers installing a water main for a new restaurant in West Toledo ruptured a 12-inch gas line Wednesday, disrupting service to two fast-food eateries and closing part of busy Secor Road for more than six hours.
The gas line was hit about noon in front of a Sonic Drive-In being built on Secor across from Home Depot, south of I-475 and north of Central Avenue. City crews diverted traffic through nearby parking lots.
Service was disrupted to McDonald's and Popeye's Chicken fast-food restaurants, but no residential customers were affected. Utility workers finished repairing the pipe and restored service to the two restaurants about 6:30 p.m.
