Port Clinton man indicted in theft at Rite Aid, chase

PORT CLINTON - An Ottawa County grand jury Wednesday indicted a man on nine counts related to the robbery of a pharmacy and a police chase.

James Lynch, 40, of Port Clinton was held in the Ottawa County jail pending an appearance at 10 a.m. Friday in Common Pleas Court.

The indictment includes charges of receiving stolen property; forgery; theft by deception; theft of motor vehicle; robbery; theft of drugs, and two counts of failure to comply with officers' orders.

The robbery was reported about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at a Rite Aid store at 1626 East Perry St. Police said a man threatened employees, who turned over prescription medication.

The man then drove away, leading police on a brief chase until the vehicle crashed. Mr. Lynch was arrested and taken to Magruder Hospital for treatment.
