Conviction of two Davis-Besse workers upheld

A federal appeals court upheld the convictions of two Davis-Besse workers found guilty of withholding information from authorities about severe corrosion in the plant's nuclear reactor.

The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati found no reason to overturn the convictions of David Geisen and Andrew Siemaszko, who were convicted at separate trials on three counts of withholding information in the fall of 2001. Both were sentenced to probation and fined.

The reactor head nearly burst, and the cover-up that followed was described as the worst in U.S. nuclear history.
