A Toledo man who in 2008 was acquitted in a 1995 murder was found guilty Thursday by a federal jury for being a felon in possession of a firearm after he was arrested in Lima, Ohio.

Dean Randleman was arrested Sept. 5, 2009, by Lima police responding to a burglary call. According to court records, he was carrying a pistol at the time.

After learning Randleman had served in prison for armed robbery, aggravated robbery, and felonious assault, federal agents filed the gun charge against him, Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Weldon said. Because of his criminal history, Randleman faces 15 years to life in prison.

Charged in the 1995 strangulation death of a woman whose body was discovered in a North Toledo park, Randleman was found not guilty of murder Dec. 4 after a three-day trial in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
