The girlfriend of Lawrence Mick, who is accused of shooting his caged dog, was indicted by a Lucas County grand jury for allegedly threatening witnesses in the case.

Melinda Perry, 51, of 631 Federal St. was charged Wednesday with three counts of intimidation of a witness in a criminal case. If convicted, she faces up to 15 years in prison.

Ms. Perry is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday before Judge James Bates.

Authorities said Ms. Perry threatened harm to three witnesses and their property, "causing them to fear for their safety." The victims are witnesses in the criminal cases against Mick, who is accused of taking turns with another suspect shooting Sarge multiple times.

Mick, 57, has pleaded not guilty in Toledo Municipal Court to charges of animal cruelty, firearms discharge, inducing panic, and obstructing official business. He also has pleaded not guilty in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to having a weapon as a felon.

Mick and Adam Collins, 35, are accused of taking turns July 9 shooting a caged dog six times as it howled in the back yard of a Federal Street house. Each says it was the other who did the shooting.
