A burglar alarm at Moore Metal Finishing on Silica Avenue in Sylvania Township apparently wasn't set off by a burglar — but by a cloud of chemical vapor.
Lt. Mike Szafarowicz of the Sylvania Township Police Department said the haze of airborne chemicals set off the alarm about 2:30 p.m. The leak was investigated by the Sylvania Township Fire Department and Toledo Fire Department's hazardous materials unit.
Officers left the scene about 4:50 p.m. after learning the leak had dissipated and no longer posed a threat. The source was not immediately known.
