Mercy, eye-care chain form partnership
8/25/2010An eye-care chain and Mercy announced a partnership Tuesday, creating two entities — Reed Vision by Mercy and the Mercy Eye Center — under the Mercy umbrella.
Dr. Stephen Reed became president and chief executive of the Mercy Eye Center at the former Reed Vision Center, 5085 Monroe St., which includes surgical units.
Reed Vision's two other sites in Toledo and centers in Oregon and Monroe become part of the Mercy system.
Reid Vision by Mercy has 10 ophthalmologists and optometrists. When Reed Vision's doctors find medical problems during eye exams, those patients can be referred to Mercy specialists. Likewise, patients at Mercy can be referred to a Reed Vision by Mercy, said Sarah Bednarski, a spokesman for Mercy, known until last year as Mercy Health Partners.
