The only one of three youths to survive a crash in a stolen car early Tuesday died Friday in Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, authorities said.

Javaughn Jones, 16, was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m., Lucas County Coroner Dr. James Patrick said. An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday.

Young Jones of central Toledo was a back-seat passenger in the speeding auto that slammed into a utility pole in the Old South End shortly before 3 a.m.

The impact split the car into several pieces that scattered across two city blocks. Investigators said the vehicle was traveling at an estimated 80 to 100 mph on Broadway near Field Avenue at the time of the crash.

The Jones youth was thrown 100 feet from the car and critically injured. The two men in the front seat, Markeon Antonious Chaney and Gregory Williams, both 19 and of central Toledo, were dead at the scene. They were identified only by their fingerprints and tattoos.
