Owens Corning plans to restart production line in Italy

Owens Corning said Friday it would increase production of its continuous filament fiberglass mat reinforcements by restarting a second production line in Besana, Italy.

The second line will be restarted in October and will boost production of the material by almost 40 percent, the company said. The line is being restarted to meet market demand, the downtown Toledo company said. The second line was shut down in 2008 because of the recession.

Continuous filament mat is used in molding items such as hand rails, ladder components, and boat hulls.
