NORWALK — A Bellevue, Ohio, man was indicted this week by a Huron County grand jury on three felonies stemming from the beating death of his wife last month.

Clifford Beach, 79, was indicted for aggravated murder, murder, and gross abuse of a corpse.

Mr. Beach, who is being held in the Huron County jail on $1 million bond, is to be arraigned at 9:30 a.m. Monday before Common Pleas Judge James Conway.

Investigators said Mr. Beach bludgeoned his wife, Linda Beach, 63, with a shovel and other gardening tools.

The homicide was discovered when a woman arrived at Mr. Beach's house the morning of Aug. 16 to drive him to a doctor's appointment.
