A group of insurance companies has filed an $8.7 million lawsuit against a north Toledo steel-fabrication firm, seeking to recoup claims the firms paid out after an extensive fire at Omnisource Inc. on Aug. 8, 2009.

The firms allege that workers from H. Hansen Industries, 2824 North Summit St., were responsible for the fire that raged for hours at the scrapping facility and caused extensive damage to its equipment.

The case, filed last month, has been assigned to Lucas County Common Pleas Court Judge Gary Cook.
