Hearing continued in shooting of dog

9/15/2010

A pretrial hearing yesterday in Toledo Municipal Court for two people accused of stealing and shooting a neighbor's dog was continued to allow more time for the prosecution and defense to share information.

Eric Skowron, 34, of 1108 Rochelle Rd. and Alisha Marie King, 29, of Lambertville have pleaded not guilty to animal-cruelty charges in the June 23 shooting, which was partially caught on surveillance video. The dog, a shepherd, Lab, and Rottweiler mix named Tyson, survived two 45-caliber bullet wounds and underwent surgery to remove a bullet that shattered an eye.

Mr. Skowron told police he shot the dog because it wandered the neighborhood, threatening his own dog. He and Miss King are to return to Judge Michael Goulding's courtroom Oct. 14.
