A Central Toledo man was arrested early Thursday and accused of shooting two bike riders in North Toledo, authorities said.

Jimmy Henry, 21, of 1008 1/2 Pinewood Ave., was charged with felonious assault in the drive-by shooting of Dorian Belcher, 16, and Eric Saunders, 18, on Tuesday night, Toledo police said.

He was booked in the Lucas County jail pending arraignment Friday in Toledo Municipal Court, according to jail records.

The Belcher youth was in serious condition Wednesday at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where Mr. Saunders was listed as fair. No information about them was available Thursday morning, a hospital spokesman said.

Police said the victims were shot about 9:35 p.m. Tuesday on Cherry Street near Mettler Street when at least one person in a tan, four-door vehicle started firing before speeding away.

Mr. Saunders was struck in the right knee; the Belcher youth was hit in the abdomen. They then made their way across Cherry to Central Catholic High School, where police and rescue crews found them, police said.

The shooting may have been gang-related, according to Toledo police Sgt. William Wauford.
