Man dies in head-on car crash with dump truck in Sylvania

A man died Thursday afternoon in Sylvania after his car and a dump truck collided head on.

The man was taken to Flower Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Sylvania police said the car was eastbound on Erie Street at Wakefield Drive about 1:25 p.m. when it went left of center and struck the dump truck, which was westbound.

The dump truck driver was taken to Toledo Hospital.

The names of the drivers were not released because family members had not been notified, Sylvania police said.
