Lane closings slated on I-75 in Monroe County

10/1/2010

Traffic will be restricted to a single lane each way on about five miles of I-75 in northern Monroe County for about 38 hours starting Friday evening, the Michigan Department of Transportation announced.

Closing two lanes each way is required to patch concrete in the center lane between Dixie Highway (Exit 15) and I-275 (Exit 20). MDOT said the work zone will be set up at 7 p.m. Friday and remain until about 9 a.m. Sunday.

The right lane closed Thursday morning for pavement patching in the same area. Similar repairs are planned later this month in several stages between Dixie and the Ohio-Michigan border, with double-lane closings likely on the weekends.

Long traffic delays are likely during the double-lane closings, especially in the afternoons and evenings. M-125 and U.S. 24 are the closest alternative routes.
