Bell, Vasquez to discuss drive to transform TPS
10/7/2010Toledo Mayor Mike Bell and Toledo Board of Education President Bob Vasquez will discuss an ongoing collaborative effort to transform the school district at One Government Center Thursday morning.
Mayor Bell is one member of a group of business, higher education, and community leaders called upon by Mr. Vasquez months ago to suggest dramatic changes to TPS in light of the $39 million in cuts and layoffs the district had to make this year.
Mr. Vasquez said this morning's press conference was called by Mayor Bell, who convened one of two private group meetings. Mr. Vasquez said University of Toledo President Dr. Lloyd Jacobs convened the second meeting.
