A man was arrested late Wednesday after being accused of stabbing another man during a confrontation in a South Toledo apartment complex, authorities said.

Jaron Thompson, 22, of 907 Byrneport Drive, was charged with felonious assault in the stabbing of Terrale Smith and booked into the Lucas County jail pending arraignment Thursday in Toledo Municipal Court, according to records.

The victim was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, where a hospital spokesman said she had no information about a person by that name. Toledo police said the injuries did not appear life-threatening.

The incident occurred about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday during a fight outside the suspect's residence in Byrneport Apartments, police said.

According to the police report, the incident stemmed from an argument between the victim and a man who apparently came over to buy drugs in the 800 block of Byrneport. The victim and several other men then chased the man to his residence at 907 Byrneport where the man being chased told the suspect what was going on. The suspect then grabbed two knives, stepped outside, and confronted the victim who allegedly was throwing bottles at him, the report said.

The victim ended up with stab wounds to his arms and the right shoulder, police said in the report.
