A Toledo man convicted this week of felonious assault after a three-day jury trial was sentenced in Lucas County Common Pleas Court Friday to eight years in prison.

George Ridley, 35, of 451 Oakland St. was given the maximum sentence by visiting Judge Michael Corrigan, who is retired from Cuyahoga County. The jury's verdict, reached Thursday, included acquittals on one count each of kidnapping and rape.

The case was prosecuted by the Wood County Prosecutor's Office. Ridley was found guilty in the Nov. 16 assault of an acquaintance.

He is to go on trial Dec. 6 on allegations that he threatened his former attorney as well as the original judge and assistant prosecutor assigned to the case. It was because of these allegations that a visiting judge and outside prosecutors were assigned.
