A former Toledo Public Schools teacher has sued the district, the Board of Education, and the personnel director, claiming she was wrongfully fired from her job as a kindergarten teacher.

Sandra Ahrens filed the complaint in Lucas County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday, asking for general and punitive damages as well as her annual salary of $47,805. The case was assigned to Judge Gene Zmuda.

According to the complaint, Ms. Ahrens was informed by letter that her last day of work would be Oct. 13, 2009. She claims in the lawsuit she was not terminated for good cause, and no specific grounds were given for her dismissal.
