A Monroe teen was hospitalized in critical condition Sunday after his car ran off the road in Monroe County's Raisinville Township.

Webb Drew, 17, was driving west along West Dunbar Road, between Geiger and Martell roads, when the crash happened about 7 p.m. Saturday, Michigan State Police said. Authorities said speed appeared to be a factor.

The vehicle came to a halt in a ditch after striking a fire hydrant and then a tree, according to state police. The driver's side door of the car took the impact from the tree, authorities said.

The teen suffered head and other injuries and was flown to Toledo Hospital, where he had surgery Saturday, authorities said.
