Newport, Mich., man, 51, dies after hit-and run

A Newport, Mich., man was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run in Monroe County.

Anthony J. Stemen, 51, was riding a tricycle on North Monroe Street, north of Nadeau Road, in Frenchtown Township when he was struck from behind by a white Chevrolet Venture minivan, police reported. The vehicle fled the scene.

Mr. Stemen was pronounced dead at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe.
