Man arrested for injury that involved transmission fluid

A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on charges of felonious assault related to the Oct. 11 injury of a man found spattered with transmission fluid in South Toledo.

Shanah A. Newsome, 32, of 519 Potter St., was arrested a 3:30 p.m. after an interview with detectives in the Safety Building downtown, Toledo Police Captain Ray Carroll said.

Newsome is charged in relation to the discovery of Thomas Moore III, 27, of West Toledo who was found about 2:15 a.m. Oct. 11 face down in the street in the 2500 block of Airport Highway. He had wounds on his head, arms, and knees and was splattered with transmission fluid. A pool of blood was nearby in the middle of the road, police said.

He was transported in serious condition in University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital.

Additional arrests regarding the assault of Mr. Moore are expected, Captain Carroll added.
