An estimated 27,500 Toledo Edison customers in Toledo, Rossford, Perrysburg, Maumee, and surrounding areas lost power at about 5:50 p.m. Sunday when lightning struck, throwing out three circuits, Edison spokesman Gary Keys said.

Within two hours, power had been restored to 16,000 of those customers and more restorations were made thereafter, Mr. Keys said.

But at 9:20 p.m., about 7,100 customers remained without power. Most of those - about 5,200 - were in the Perrysburg area and about 1,600 were in the Rossford area.

Mr. Keys said Edison was aiming to have all customers restored by 11 p.m.
