GENOA, Ohio — A Woodville, Ohio, man was injured seriously in a single-car crash early Monday just south of this Sandusky County community, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Timothy Arden, 34, was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, according to the patrol's Fremont post. He was listed in critical condition, a hospital spokesman said.

Mr. Arden was driving "at a very high rate of speed" east on Camper Road in Woodville Township about 1 a.m. when the car crossed Genoa-Clay Center Road and went airborne, landing 45 feet east of the intersection, troopers said.

The driver lost control of the car, causing it to slide off the right side of the road. The car then struck a utility pole and went off the right side of the road into a plowed field. The vehicle then rolled over several times, throwing the driver on the ground, the patrol said.

Mr. Arden was not wearing a belt. The crash remained under investigation.

Genoa is about 15 miles southeast of Toledo.
