After hosting a screening yesterday of the public schools documentary "Waiting for Superman," the United Way of Greater Toledo endorsed Toledo Public Schools' 7.8-mill levy request on the Nov. 2 ballot.
Last week, Toledo Mayor Mike Bell and Lucas County Board of Commissioners President Pete Gerken also endorsed the continuing levy, which would add about $200 a year to the tax bill for a $100,000 home.
The documentary by David Guggenheim examines problems in public K-12 education.
The United Way screened the film at Showcase Cinemas Levis Commons in Perrysburg and then hosted a roundtable with local education officials at Owens-Illinois Inc. headquarters.
