Driver to be extradited to face Michigan charges

A Toledo man charged in Monroe County for causing a drunken driving crash that killed a woman will be extradited to Michigan after he waived his right to a hearing Monday.

Scott Borkowski, 46, of Warrington Road appeared in Lucas County Common Pleas Court Monday on a fugitive warrant. He waived a hearing and consented to be taken into custody by Monroe County officials.

Mr. Borkowski is charged with manslaughter with a motor vehicle for the Sept. 29 crash that killed Barbara Antoine. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Monroe County sheriff's deputies said Mr. Borkowski was driving a pickup at high speed north on Lewis Avenue at 6:40 p.m. when he collided with Mrs. Antoine's vehicle at the Smith Road intersection.

Mrs. Antoine, 51, of Washington Township, died at the scene.
