GENOA — A Woodville man suffered serious injuries in a single-car crash early Monday just south of this Sandusky County community, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Timothy Arden, 34, was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, a hospital spokesman said.

He was driving “at a very high rate of speed” east on Camper Road in Woodville Township about 1 a.m., troopers said, when the car crossed Genoa-Clay Center Road and went airborne, landing 45 feet east of the intersection. The driver lost control of the car, which went off the road and into a plowed field after hitting a utility pole.

The car rolled several times, throwing the driver out. He was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
