Columbia Gas' rate to fall 6 cents in Nov.

10/28/2010

Columbia Gas of Ohio said Wednesday that its customer rate for November will be about 52 cents per 100 cubic feet of natural gas, a decrease of 6 cents from this month's rate.

The new rate is based on Wednesday's natural-gas commodity closing price of 32.9 cents on the New York Mercantile Exchange, plus 19.3 cents, which is a state-regulated service charge set by an annual auction.

Columbia Gas said an average customer's bill in November will be about $56, or $15 higher than the average bill this month. The utility said the rise in the average bill is because of the onset of cold weather and an expected increased use of gas by customers.
