TIFFIN — A former Tiffin man who stabbed an employee of a Subway restaurant during a 2004 robbery was sentenced Thursday to 40 years in prison.

Seneca County Common Pleas Judge Steve Shuff also ordered that Michael A. Dodson, 35, have no contact with Shanna Long, who was stabbed repeatedly during the Jan. 25, 2004 robbery at the Subway on North Countyline Street in Fostoria.

On Monday, a jury found Dodson guilty of attempted murder and aggravated robbery. Judge Shuff Thursday also found him guilty of two repeat violent offender specifications.

Dodson was not indicted for the Subway robbery and assault until last year, but had been in prison for unrelated convictions since July, 2004. He deferred comment at his sentencing to his attorney who maintained Dodson's innocence.
