12/13/2010

ATTICA, Ohio -- A tractor-trailer rig driven by a Texas man was struck by an eastbound train Sunday, closing State Rt. 4 for nearly four hours, troopers with the Seneca County post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Juan Mariscal, 61, of El Paso was heading northbound when he drove through the crossing gates north of the Seneca County village of Attica at 1:30 p.m.

The impact broke the trailer into five pieces, one of which struck a utility pole.

No one on the train was injured and no information was available whether it sustained damage.

The accident remained under investigation.
