Warrant issued for suspect in shooting of North Toledo shop owner

A warrant was issued early Thursday for a suspect in the shooting of a North Toledo shop owner, Toledo Police said.

Nathaniel A. Lee, 19, is wanted for complicity to felonious assault.

Mr. Lee and another man are suspected of shooting Mohammad “Mike” Abaza multiple times after entering his store, Our Food Market, 454 East Streicher St., about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. There is no known motive.

Mr. Abaza was taken by life squad to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition Thursday morning, according to a hospital spokesperson. Police said his injuries were not life threatening.

He was shot in the hand in 2003 as he struggled with two masked men who tired to rob the store at gunpoint.
