1/3/2010

Bond was set at $500,000 for a man charged with the murder of his wife in West Toledo.

Christopher Gould, 52, appeared before Toledo Municipal Judge Michael Goulding early Friday. Public defender James MacHarg asked to continue the case until Monday in order for Mr. Gould to retain a private attorney.

Toledo police and rescue crews responded to a report of a person shot about 7:40 p.m. Thursday to a unit in the Hillview Apartments, 6215 Jackman Rd.

The victim, Brenda Gould, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband told police that he accidentally shot her.

Court records show Mr. Gould was charged with domestic violence in 1998 and that those charges later were dismissed.

This is the 25th homicide in Toledo this year. There were 33 murders in 2009.
