OAK HARBOR, Ohio — An Oak Harbor man who was hurt Dec. 16 when an eastbound Norfolk Southern train hit his truck in Ottawa County has died, authorities said.

Gregory Haar, 40, died Thursday in the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, apparently of injuries suffered in the crash, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Mr. Haar was southbound on Benton-Carroll Road and failed to yield to the train at the crossing south of West Beier Road.

The train hit the truck and pushed it more than 2,700 feet, troopers said.

The crossing has crossbucks, authorities said.

The train continued on its way after the damaged truck was removed, troopers said.
