DUNDEE, Mich. — A Hartland, Mich., driver was in fair condition Monday from injuries he suffered Sunday when he lost control of his pickup while southbound on U.S. 23 and was struck by a tractor-trailer headed in the same direction.

The semi then jackknifed across the highway and was struck by two other vehicles.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office said Jeremy A. Legg, 21, was in the right lane when he lost control of his pickup on the icy highway. His vehicle was struck by a semi driven by Leonard J. Bouza, 73, of Auburn, Mich. He was not injured.

The crash in Dundee Township, 18 miles north of the Ohio line, was reported at 5:24 a.m.

The jackknifed tractor-trailer blocked both southbound lanes of U.S. 23 for approximately three hours, deputies said.

Mr. Legg, who wore a seat belt, was in fair condition in Toledo Hospital.
