Fremont police chief to receive FBI training

FREMONT — Fremont Police Chief Tim Wiersma plans to leave Sunday for a 10-week training program at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va.

Administrative Capt. Jim White will oversee the police department in his absence.

Chief Wiersma, who applied to the FBI Academy more than two years ago, said he will take courses intended to improve departmental efficiency, management skills, and computer skills.
