FREMONT — The Sandusky County commissioners intend to ask voters to replace the county's 911 emergency services levy.
The board voted Thursday to proceed with plans for a 0.3-mill replacement levy in the May primary that which would bring in $64,000 more per year than the current levy generates, about $327,000 a year.
Sheriff Kyle Overmyer said the additional revenue could allow the county to replace one of two dispatchers whose jobs were eliminated because of budget cuts.
The commissioners approved placing a five-year, 1-mill levy on the May ballot for Birchard Public Library, which operates libraries in Fremont, Green Springs, Gibsonburg, and Woodville.
The levy would generate close to $897,000 a year and would help the library restore hours and services that resulted from state funding cuts.
