CLYDE, Ohio — Bond was set at $66,000 on Monday for a Fremont man who led sheriff's deputies on a chase through Sandusky County Saturday.

Preston Atkins, 20, is being held in the Sandusky County jail on two counts of assault on a police officer and one count each of fleeing and eluding, possession of cocaine, trafficking in drugs, and a number of misdemeanors, including child endangerment. Deputies said Mr. Atkins' 15-year-old sister was in the car during the pursuit.

According to Sandusky County Sheriff's reports, a deputy attempted to pull over Mr. Atkins for speeding on U.S. 6 in Riley Township. Mr. Atkins instead drove off, leading officers on a chase through rural roads, a field, and into Clyde, where his car struck a block wall. Deputies said he then ran away on foot but was later apprehended.
