Girl injured in Bay Township crash

PORT CLINTON — A 17-year-old was injured, apparently seriously, Wednesday afternoon when her car slid across the center line and collided head on with an oncoming pickup truck in Ottawa County's Bay Township.

Molly Kubicek, of Port Clinton, was taken to Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, and later to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where she was in the pediatrics intensive care unit.

She was northbound on State Rt. 53 near Oak Harbor Southeast Road about 2:15 p.m. when her car when out of control and struck a southbound pickup driven by Chase Johnson, 24, of Lima, Ohio, troopers with the Sandusky post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Mr. Johnson refused to transported to a hospital, troopers said. Ms. Kubicek's passenger, Kenzie Payne, 16, of Port Clinton, was treated at Magruder Hospital.
