Police probe death of man at business in South Toledo

1/28/2011

Police are investigating the death of a Sylvania man found in a pool of blood in a South Toledo business Thursday.

Crews responding to a call of an injured person shortly before 9 a.m. found James Schueler, Jr., 65, of Rymoor Drive in an office area at Forklifts of Toledo, 140 North Byrne Rd. He was vice president and general manager of the company, according to an online corporate profile.

He had an apparent gunshot wound in the head, Dr. James Patrick, Lucas County coroner, said. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Mr. Schueler was found on the floor by an employee and taken by a rescue unit to the University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly the Medical College of Ohio, where he was pronounced dead.

Police were at the business all day looking for a weapon, and Thursday evening called in a fire department ladder truck so the roof could be searched.

If the death is ruled a homicide, it would be Toledo's first in 2011. By this time last year, the city had logged three homicides: a woman thrown from a car, a man strangled, and a man burned to death.
