A Detroit man accused of firing three rounds into a vehicle parked at Westfield Franklin Park mall after the driver accidentally dinged the side of his vehicle has been federally indicted on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Edmund J. Robinson, 34, was being held in the Lucas County jail by the U.S. Marshal's Office at no bond pending his preliminary hearing at U.S. District Court in Toledo. A date has not been set, a spokesman said.

According to Toledo police, the incident occurred about 6:45 p.m. Jan. 4, when Bedford Township resident Richard Dougherty arrived at the mall and accidentally opened his vehicle's door into the side of Robinson's vehicle as it was parking next to his.

Robinson allegedly tried to quarrel with Mr. Dougherty and trip him as he walked his family into the mall. When Mr. Dougherty returned to his vehicle to move it, he saw Robinson getting back into his. Mr. Dougherty then found that the driver's side front and rear windows of his vehicle had been shot out, as had the rear passenger window and left rear tire, police have said.
