Clyde teen admits role in cemetery vandalism
2/9/2011FREMONT — A 17-year-old Clyde, Ohio, boy has admitted his role in two nights of vandalism at Clyde's McPherson Cemetery in August.
The youth pleaded guilty in Sandusky County Juvenile Court on Monday to delinquency in connection with vandalism. A sentencing date was not set.
In November, another 17-year-old was sentenced to spend 90 days in the Sandusky County Juvenile Detention Center, perform 200 hours of community service, and pay an unspecified amount of restitution for his role in the spree, in which more than 170 headstones were toppled or broken and items from 50 other graves were scattered around the cemetery. As part of the sentence, Judge Brad Smith ordered that the teen spend part of his community service hours researching the lives of some of the people whose gravestones he damaged.
